VON-091031, 34/58 DOG LOCK SPRING

We used to call this a gravity dog drop spring... Used on Von Duprin old style mortise lock exit devices (pre 7500 series). How do you know if it is an old mortise case? If the faceplate in not completely rectangular then it is an 34 or 58 old mortise case.
